Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges can help improve broken, cracked or decayed teeth as well as replace missing teeth. In addition they can assist in correcting a misaligned bite and even help improve chewing functionality.
A crown is a hollow cap that can fit over a specially prepared tooth and is cemented into place. The crown will provide stability if it is a back tooth, and also restore the shape, size and colour of the damaged tooth.
A bridge however is a device anchored to neighbouring teeth that replaces one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with a bridge, the teeth on either side of the missing one have to be prepared as crowns as they help sustain the replacement tooth in place.
