Dental implants are a substitute for the root of your tooth. It tends to be made out of titanium because of its strong characteristics and because it is accepted by human tissue. When getting a dental implant, it is inserted directly to the jaw then left for 6 months to allow the jaw bone to properly bond with the implant itself. Once this has been secured the treatment is finalised by adding the replacement tooth, also known as the crown, which is then screwed onto the anchored implant. The final result is a well sculpted, durable and natural looking replacement tooth that functions just like a real tooth.
