Meet Our Staff

Dentists:

Dr Robert Saltmiras (Practice Principal)

Rob hails from Sydney where he also studied dentistry at Sydney University. Since graduating in 1984, Robert has worked in a number of practices both in Australia and overseas as well as owning several practices in the Sydney region. In 2004 he finally fled the cold and settled with his family in Townsville. He has spent considerable time refining how practices work best for both patients and team, and as Principal of my.dentist.nq has spent the last six years seeking to implement best practice in every seen and unseen are of the business.

Rob is committed to ongoing education both dentally & generally. Apart from attending many Dental Continuing Education courses, he has a Post Grad Certificate in Arts, and is part way through his MBA. He is also studying to gain entrance as a member to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

While Rob enjoys all aspects of dentistry & building relationships with his patients, he has a special interest in total makeovers. May people unfortunately have let things slide dentally and Rob loves nothing more than to help get them turned around dentally, renewed and then keep them that way. This usually involves integrating a wide range of dental skills and often working in with specialists. But he still does simple fillings !!

BUT…there is more to life than work. Rob loves spending time with his wife and their 3 children, although their oldest has reneged on the beautiful Queensland weather and headed back to Sydney to pursue a musical career.  Rob is also a member of the SES, and tries to keep fit with cycling & squash and when he gets the chance, some target shooting out at Hervey’s Range. Rob and his family are also part of Calvary Christian Church.

Dr. Craig Gove

Dr Craig Gove is a Scottish trained dentist who graduated in Dundee (Scotland) in 2004 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery before moving to Australia in 2008. Before coming to Townsville Craig worked in Edinburgh. Craig has been a valued team member at my.dentist.nq. Since February (2008) and works Monday to Thursday.

Craig has a love of all areas of dentistry however he feels it is especially rewarding turning a nervous patient into a regular attendee.   Craig takes the time to form relationships with his patients so that they feel very comfortable coming in and believes in offering all of his patients personalized care.  Craig is extremely popular with both new and existing patients at my.dentist.nq for his very calm and gentle chair side manner.

Staying up-to-date with the latest trends in dentistry is essential to Dr Gove’s personal and professional success. He maintains membership in the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and regularly attends courses on the latest techniques and materials.

Craig has a passion for playing hockey and since being in Townsville has become a loyal player at the local Parks Hockey Club.  He is also a HUGE soccer fan and is a supporter of the Glasgow Rangers however since coming to Townsville was also an active supporter of the NQ Fury and regularly attended their games.  Craig also enjoys watching and attending the V8’ both locally here in Townsville and the Gold Coast - his favourite team is the Holden Vodafone Team.

Dr Jane Pereira

Dr Jane Pereira graduated as a dentist in 1995.  Jane joined the team at my.dentist.nq in 2010 and has added her gentle manner and quiet confidence to the team mix.   Jane loves interacting with patients and making them feel cared for and respected.  Restorative Dentistry is Jane’s particular interest although she enjoys all aspects of dentistry.

In her spare time Jane plays both the piano and violin and has tutored music students facing exams in the past.  Cooking and travelling also feature in Jane’s favourite pastimes as she loves to spend time learning about other countries and cultures with her husband Des.

 

All other staff:

Receptionists

Anita is competent both in the surgery assisting the dentists and also in the reception area, so you never know where you’ll see her next.  Anita is a local girl who is married and the very proud mother of a lovely 4 year old boy and another on the way. Anita has over 10 years experience as a dental assistant and currently has her certificate 3 in dental assisting.

Kathy is one of our longest serving staff members. She is the cheery voice on your answering machine to remind you it’s time for a check up. Kathy loves to chat with patients and will always be a smiling face for you. Kathy has over 14 year’s dental experience and has completed her certificate 3 in dental assisting.

Kristy is the friendly face that greeting you on Saturday mornings at my.dentist.nq. Kristy has her Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting and is currently with us part time as she studies towards her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.

Dental Assistant

Andrea Has recently rejoined our team here at my.dentist.nq, she is one of the friendly faces you will see in our treatment rooms. Andrea is competent in both dental assisting and reception, recently married Andy is a wonderful addition to our team.

Kate is another Kiwi – perhaps she stowed away in Becky’s port! However she arrived in Townsville, we’re glad she did. Another well qualified dental assistant with a NZ Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting and plenty of experience, you can rest assured you are in capable hands when Kate assists the dentist.

Lynley has been with our team for over 6 years now. She has completed her Cert 3 in Dental Assisting and you will see her working with one of our dentists in our treatment rooms. She is married and has 3 grown sons. A Kiwi at heart (and by birth) she has made Townsville her home.

Madeline is a newcomer to my.dentist.nq, currently studying year 11 at Annandale Christian College she will be the friendly face you see in the treatment rooms on Saturdays. Madeline hopes to one day study medicine.

Hygienist/Dental Therapist

Cathy is highly experienced in the dental world and a great asset to our team.  A graduate of the Sylvania School of Dental Therapy and with hygienist qualifications from the University of Queensland, Cathy has a passion to introduce kids to a positive dental experience.  Part of her aim is to work with whole families with the goal of guiding them towards life long excellence in dental health.

Sarah is our newest Hygienist at my.dentist.nq. She graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2006 and has since been gaining experience in her chosen field. Having worked for two years in specialized practices in Adelaide and then another two in Canberra for the Australian Defence Force you could say she is well travelled. Having settled here in Townsville her warm nature and experience will make you feel right at home.

Treatment Co-ordinator/clinical Manager

Jody is our Clinical Manger here at my.dentist.nq. Jody has over 12 years experience in the dental field and is a qualified Dental Assistant having completed her Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting. Jody has completed numerous courses and is competent in all areas of clinical treatment and ties in her dual roles here together seamlessly. Jody is also our fulltime Treatment Coordinator she is the friendly face you will meet shortly after your full mouth assessment with one of our dentists and she will discuss all your treatment plans with you.

Practice Manager

Lucy is our practice manager and has over 5 years experience in the dental industry. In that time she has completed her Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting, a Bachelor of Science degree and numerous dental courses. As one of our full time Treatment Coordinator’s Lucy is one of the friendly faces you will also meet shortly after your full mouth assessment with one of our dentists and she will discuss all your treatment plans with you. Lucy is a quiet achiever and one of the big reasons why my.dentist.nq is so successful.
